I studied film at UT Austin and spent my early twenties interning around Los Angeles entertainment: social calendars, talent support, influencer campaigns inside multi channel networks. I loved the energy. I also noticed something. The people thriving were not just the most creative. They were the ones who understood the numbers behind the creativity.
So I moved toward the numbers. I went from entertainment into B2B digital marketing, running paid search and paid social, living in dashboards, testing everything. On paper it looked like a left turn. In practice it was the same job with better measurement. Entertainment taught me what makes people stop scrolling. Marketing taught me what makes them click, sign up, and buy.
Balancing full time work with full time school through those years was brutal and useful in equal measure. Deadlines measured in hours teach you to prioritize fast. That skill now runs my whole business.
Here is what I tell students choosing between creative and analytical paths: do not choose. The market pays a premium for people who can do both. A creator who reads a media plan. A marketer who can shoot. I built my career in the overlap, and the overlap keeps getting bigger.
