A Stay That Felt Like Home: R&B Bed and Breakfast in New Orleans

Some places you stay. Others stay with you. R&B Bed and Breakfast on Frenchmen Street is the second kind, and my night there was one of the highlights of my New Orleans trip.

From the moment I arrived, the hospitality set the tone. The staff could not have been friendlier or more accommodating, and that warmth runs through everything at this family run bed and breakfast. I was given a tour of the home when I checked in, and it is the kind of personal touch you simply do not get at a large hotel. You feel looked after here, start to finish. Even the entry hall makes an impression, with its crystal chandelier and tall draped windows.

The Mardi Gras Suite

I stayed in the Mardi Gras Suite, and the room was incredible. The theme is done so well: deep green walls with gold trim, rich purple drapes, and fleur de lis accents in purple, green, and gold around a beautiful four poster bed. It is festive, full of New Orleans character, and still completely comfortable to unwind in after a night out. It is a room with real personality, the kind you want to take photos of the second you walk in, and it made the stay feel special in a way a standard hotel room never could.

Breakfast Worth Waking Up For

Breakfast at R&B is a genuine highlight. There are great options to choose from, everything is fresh, and the breakfast room has that relaxed, at home feeling that makes you want to linger over one more cup of coffee. It is the perfect start before a day of exploring the city.

Space to Work, Space to Relax

One of my favorite parts of the property is how much room there is to simply be. The outdoor courtyard area is a beautiful spot to sit with a laptop and get some work done, or just enjoy the fresh air. Inside, the parlor and living space are warm and inviting, with comfortable places to sit, read, and recharge. Between the courtyard and the living areas, the whole home really does make you feel right at home.

Right in the Heart of Frenchmen Street

The location is hard to beat. R&B sits on Frenchmen Street, the local favorite for live music, and the family behind the bed and breakfast also runs two beloved venues on the street: The Spotted Cat Music Club and Café Negril. An evening of live music is quite literally steps from your room, which makes the whole stay feel woven into the neighborhood instead of separate from it.

With only five guest accommodations, the experience stays intimate and personal. The team knows the area, the hospitality is genuine, and every detail feels cared for.

Final Thoughts

If you are planning a trip to New Orleans and want more than a place to sleep, R&B Bed and Breakfast is it. Friendly people, a beautiful home, a room full of character, and a location in the middle of the music. I had a great time, and I cannot recommend it enough.
